Online mouse Hz checker
Mouse Polling Rate Test
Check your mouse polling rate in Hz. Move continuously to collect samples, then pause to review the average and estimated rate.
Move in quick, continuous circles for several seconds. The chart follows recent samples; pause to review the estimate.

What is mouse polling rate?
Mouse polling rate, also called report rate, describes how often a mouse reports input to the computer. It is measured in hertz (Hz): 1000 Hz corresponds to 1000 reports per second. This online mouse Hz test estimates the rate of movement events delivered to your browser.
125, 500 and 1000 Hz: what the numbers mean
At a steady rate, 125 Hz corresponds to an 8 ms interval, 500 Hz to 2 ms and 1000 Hz to 1 ms. These are reporting intervals, not measurements of your full click-to-screen delay.
Can a browser test 4000 Hz or 8000 Hz?
The tool includes common estimates from 125 to 8000 Hz, but that does not guarantee the browser can observe your mouse’s configured rate. Event delivery and system scheduling can limit the measurement, especially at high rates. Use the result for comparison, not hardware certification.
Why the average matters more than the peak
Current Hz comes from the latest interval and can jump around. Average Hz summarizes recent valid intervals; the estimated setting follows that average. A brief Peak spike is not proof that the mouse is running at that rate.
Understanding your mouse Hz test results
Move for several seconds to build a sample. The estimated setting appears after at least 30 valid intervals and enough input to support a common rate; very sparse input remains unclassified.

How to test your mouse polling rate
Place the pointer inside the movement area. Keep the page in the foreground.
Move the mouse in quick, continuous circles for several seconds. Stay within the area and avoid pauses during sampling.
Watch the sample count grow, then stop moving to review Average Hz and Estimated Polling Rate together.
Repeat with the same movement and computer settings. Ignore isolated peak spikes when comparing runs.
If you change the polling rate in your mouse software, select Reset before measuring again.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Note
Why is the measured Hz lower than my mouse setting?
Slow movement, browser event delivery, system load and device settings can affect the result. Repeat with continuous motion and compare the average. A low browser estimate does not establish that your mouse is failing to meet its configured hardware rate.
- Note
Why does the polling rate keep changing?
The time between delivered events is not perfectly even. Pauses and browser scheduling can change the current reading. Compare repeated averages rather than expecting every point on the chart to match.
- Note
Is polling rate the same as DPI?
No. Polling rate describes how often input is reported; DPI describes a mouse sensitivity setting related to physical movement. Use the Mouse DPI Test below to estimate pointer distance per inch.
- Note
Is this a mouse latency test?
No. This page measures intervals between browser movement events. It does not measure the delay from a physical click to a visible response, or certify an exact USB polling rate.
